Cobia Jig Preferences
Been practicing my casting accuracy, would like to land my first Cobia this year.
What do you all prefer? Jig head shape/types & weight, colors, rattles, scent, tails or no - with straight, curly or eel tail?
Does anyone like the soft plastics, eels, curly grubs and etc?

Re: Cobia Jig Preferences
Best bet for your first Cobia would be live bait on bottom off the SE corner of octi. Oh and PATIENCE. :fishing:

01,
Why the SE corner of the Octi? What live bait to use? When do the cobia start rolling in?

[/quote]Good questions, I've been doing my homework too.
Fish are migrating North along the coast, so they hit the SE corner first.
While I believe a wiggling eel or live crab would be the best baits, but would think that a feisty Pinfish, LY, Sardine, Cigar or others would work too.
March should start them, April should be better.
Water temp plays a BIG part from what I understand, 68' them moving and 72' really lights a fire under their asses.Ragnar Benson:

Re: Cobia Jig Preferences
i prefer a 2oz squid head with yellow, orange, and white with some rubber ''tails'' (see pic bellow) and some kyristal flash. best time to fish for them is spring, when the water temp hits 68 degrees.
I figure it this way, if everyone in the world had a lie clock, whose hands moved once every time they lied. You could use any politicians lie clock as a ceiling fan.

no fish in the shallows...... but some do travel the draws....or on the tide line....cats with the barbs cut off are one of there favorites..... from what I have heard
for a jig color....I always like orange :fishing: but if they want to eat, almost any will work.... placed in the right areaBill..............
