Clarification on Regulations- fish and bait

I have read the regulations in the top post, but I want to get clarification on fish and legal bait. For example, the regulations don't say anything about black drum, ghost crabs, grass porgies, etc. Does that mean black drum have no size or limit restrictions, or that crabs or porgies could be use for bait? In Tennessee, if it doesn't have a season or state the size or limit for a species, it's illegal.

Thanks. Still hard to believe. We like to make everything illegal here to simplify things.

Say what you will, but you still get to live in my absolute favorite part of the world for fishing. Much like the salt, I only get to experience it a couple of times per year.

We do probably have THE most restrictive shark fishing restrictions in the nation though :-(

    ShallowWaterAngler:
I was somewhat confused by your question since it seemed to be compound in nature. For clarification, yes you can catch and keep black drum. Unlike Tennessee, anything not specifically listed with a size or creel limit, is legal to catch and keep or use for bait without limits.

    good fishing...

Do you say that in regards to Alabama, or just GS and OB? I was of the impression that the statewide emergency ban that was issued a few years back was only temporary. In fact, I spoke with the district game warden over Baldwin Co. last year. He implied that as long as I wasn't on state property, or using chum, that he didn't care.

Backwoods---State property includes the pier and most public coastal accesses, then you have the prohibitions from Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. That takes care of all the coastline on the east side of Mobile Bay. They just don't want you to land a shark on the beach---period. You can do it from a boat and get your picture in the paper, but you can't do it on the beach. Seems that the various factions of government got together and said, "So, they want to go shark fishing? Scroomall!"

It originated within the OB city government and spread from there...

What about the unincorporated area of Ft. Morgan (with the obvious exception of public accesses), between GS and the actual fort property? I thought that this area was still ok.
