    Chum Bucket Rig

Anyone try one of these out yet? Been seeing them like crazy recently in my facebook feed. Here's an example I found:

That's gonna get expensive in a hurry ;-)

Chum is NOT needed for LYs and will simply attract more of the 'less desirable' baits.
In fact I've always caught more LYs (and fewer bumper, hardtails, pinfish, etc.) using a homemade 4 or 5 hook gold hook rig of #8 or #10 gold Aberdeens...

    Or buy 100 hooks for $9.99 ;-)

My opinion is that its not needed on the pier. It would be swarmed by pinfish in seconds.
Maybe useful if you are in a boat and trying to catch a mess of bait over a reef or around a bouy??

Not really. The general order of preference for live bait for kings/spanish is:
-cigar minnows (rare most of the time at GSPP)
    -LYs
    -SPanish Sardine
    -Baby hardtail (smaller the better)

I'll throw live mullet in the mix at 2nd place but rarely will you see someone carry a bucket of them out there. I have slayed the spanish on live finger mullet.
Small live croaker if you can get them too.
Unless Im going offshore, pinfish dont even make the list.
