cedar point pier at dauphin island
Sitting up here wishing we were at the pier. Found a link online about another pier at Dauphin Island, but weird info online. Is it up and running? Anything worthwhile there? Costly on a "private pier" ?

Re: cedar point pier at dauphin island
Good specs and flounder, also redfish, black drum and occasional spanish. Drawback is its best at night and really crowded on weekends. My best friend fishs mostly for flounder and does real well off it. He works shift work and fishs during the week.

Link to Cedar Pt Fishing Pier http://www.fishingpier.net/
It is often muddy there because of the current speed. Best fished around tide changes or on NEAP tides when the wind is fairly light.
There is a landlocked pier on Dauphin Island that may be the one you have heard of.
It offered great fishing year round until it became sand choked in 2008.

There is a short 'free pier' at the east end of Dauphin Island that offeres decent crabbing and occasionally good fishing. It is also VERY 'tide prone' and can get muddy with just a strong tide or east wind.

There are other venues on Dauphin Island open to shorebound anglers which I'd be glad to show you ...

Re: cedar point pier at dauphin island
I've never fished cedar point but there was a fella here at work who's family fished it almost every Friday night. They would load the coolers with white trout & ground mullet just about every time.
Specs too when they were running. Its also known as a good place for black drum.Carl
