causeway question
I live real close to the causeway and fairhope pier a lot closer than gulf shores. My question is when are these places a good place to fish. I heard awhile back some bulls and slot reds were caucht at mier. Just wondering if anyone had anything to add? Are the reds moved in or out because of the baitfish?

Generally the late summer and fall are best IMHO.
With a smaller, secondary peak in late winter or early spring.
But BOTH depend on the climatic condition of temperature and rainfall which affects the temperature and salinity of the water.
This salinity chart from Middle Bay Light graphically shows the variation of salinity over the course of 10 days...

When the salinity is lower in winter the water temp often dips too due to influxes of cooler, dingy fresh water.
The opposite is true in spring once the ground get warmer than the water in the rivers it actually raise the water temp in the bay too.
All this influences the food availability for fish in the bay and their movements.
Hope this helps!(RETIRED) mostly.
