Has anyone found a good way to get a shark off the line without losing the whole rig? Playing with the sharks is a lot of fun but at two to three bucks per rig it gets a little pricey. I don't imagine it's much
fun for the shark either. I'm betting there are a lot of sharks with multiple hooks, leaders and weights hanging out of their mouths. I've been using a Carolina type rig with a steel leader. Maybe I just need to use a different setup?
Anytime I encounter sharks they're a PITA! Use flurocarb/mono leader and you don't have to worry about fighting with them for that long. Personally, I think the only need for a wire/steel leader is for mackerel fishing.
To answer your question, no just pop it off.
I kinda figured there was no easy way to go about it. The reason I went to a steel leader was because I was hooking something that kept breaking off my line. I had no idea what it was but I sure found out. I'll just go back to a mono leader and just assume its a shark when I get cut off. But then again catching that shark was a lot of fun. Appreciate the info.
