Bull minnows
Whats the name of the store on West Beach that has the sign selling bull minnows? Besides Friths, Mo, J&M, Top Gun and the Shell in Foley is there anywhere else to get them in the GS OB area? Also is there a source for live finger mullet? Seems like every time I come down bait is scarce.

Re: Bull minnows
I don't know if any bull minnows would be available yet. Top Gun is not open anymore. As far as finger mullet you would have to catch them yourself using a cast net.

Re: Bull minnows
That store (Shore Shop) on West Beach Blvd @ 4th St that was selling live bait (bull minnows and shrimp) last summer as an extension of Lartigue's Seafood.
They shut it down in late September and I haven't heard when/if they will reopen.
That is good news if Frith's is going to reopen. Hope Butch is doing better! :headbang:
Also there is an satelite store of Fresh Market on Ft Morgan Rd and the Gulf Shores Marina at Tacky Jacks near Ft Morgan that carry live bait at times.
But NOBODY carries live finger mullet.
They are relatively easy to catch (castnet) in the warmer months though.(RETIRED) mostly.

Re: Bull minnows
Where could I use a cast net and finf the finger mullet from shore? I have also heard that glass minnows are great live bait. Where could I catch them? I caught some bait fish in my net last yearfrom the shallows in Little Lagoon behind a business on 59. They sort of resemble shad. What were they and what would they catch? Is that enough questions?

Little Lagoon Pass on West Bch Blvd,
The Little Lagoon Boat ramp on Ft Morgan Rd,
The Pines boat ramp on Ft Morgan Rd, etc.

They are, but they are EXTREMELY difficult to keep alive.
They can be caught in the same locations but I recoomend a 1/4" mesh castnet (NOT 3/8"

Most likely they were Gulf Menhaden (adult menhaden are often called "pogies"
They are a good bait, but are fairly difficult to keep alive for long.
Trout, redfish, flounder, ladyfish, bluesfish, catfish, etc all eat them!

Re: Bull minnows
Gonna have to hit you up for a guide trip some day. I can find reds and flatties but I can't seem to buy a trout or a pomp. Thanks for the info.
