Best time between August & November.
I was afraid that this would happen, after learning a tiny bit from Pier#r, Rusty giving me the rod to fight that king to the pier and watching everybody, I'm hooked. I think that I've talked my wife into a return trip to GS/OB. It's an 8 hour trip from South Arkansas so I need to plan it out a bit. When would be a good time between the first couple of weeks of August and Thanksgiving to come down for the fishing? Pier#r when I get it all worked out I will check and see if you're available. I would love to catch Kings or Spanish but I also wouldn't have a problem catching some flounder, specks or reds either. Depending on when I can work it out, my 16 yr old might decide that he can stand his Mom & I enough to come with us, which could really get me in trouble if he gets addicted as quick as I did. Everybody chime in and help me out.

Re: Best time between August & November.
It was my pleasure Bob! :headbang:
You came about as close as an angler can come to landing a king on your first attempt.
Just sorry we couldn't close the deal for you, but rest assured I will redouble my efforts next time around.
As far as timing, we can only hope for minimal tropical activity in the fall because that can srcew the fishing up in a hurry >
Based on that and your wish list I'd suggest middle to late October.
But no matter when you get to come back I'd be glad to help you out! :fishing:(RETIRED) mostly.

Re: Best time between August & November.
if we didn't have the grand kids and school..... I would be down the whole month of Oct....but school prevents that now for us....great cooler weather and less people, and the fishing isn't to bad either....the fall run can be real good....but for me....probably see ya next spring, unless i can get a kitchen pass from my wife.....no her parents are still in bad health and I need to be here for the kids....but one can dream .....

I wish you would have gotten that fish on the pier, but you caught him. From what David told me you were not going to keep it anyway. Last year the day after Thanksgiving there was a good king bite. I hope to see you again and next time we will deck one.

Re: Best time between August & November.
Kudos to you again Rusty :headbang:
Your magnanamous gesture that day exemplifies the truest spirit of pier fishing comradrie IMHO!
At the end of the day it's not just about the 'groceries' :eat: LOL
Always a pleasure to fish around you and your boys, and it was great to see your dad fishing the pier again the other day too! 8)
What a treat to see, 3 generations of king fishers! :yippee:

Rusty, I can't thank you enough for that. I
I hope that we get a chance to fish together
again and maybe I can return the favor.
My wife and I have talked about coming
Down around Thanksgiving we'll just have
to see about family stuff. Only thing I know
for sure is that I will be back before fall is
over

Great question Dave While we’ve got #rs attention here I’d like to know how close we are to Navarres water temp Which is where Surfline pulls there info I usually subtract 2 degrees due to the nipple...
