best pier fishing in the mobile,Baldwin county area
Hey guys I just joined and I would like to know the best pier fishing in the mobile and Baldwin area such as gulf shores,Spanish fort, and the bay bridge. Also in mobile like the mobile delta and others. I love to fish. What would be the best bait to use. I will be going next week and the first week of April. The main things I might try to catch is specs, sheepshead, hardhead catfish, flounder, and redfish. What baits would I need to bring to catch them and if when I'm going is not a good time to catch those. What other fish are there that I might catch and what bait would I need for them.
Please help me out.

I'd poke around the forum to get a lot of these answers. Look at the fishing reports in previous years for the weeks you will be fishing. Folks are generally pretty generous with pointers on those posts.
Next week might be a bit tough. April is a good time to fish. If you are landlocked, the gulf shores pier is where I would start especially if you are learning.

The "search" feature on this site is the key to a wealth of information. Gulf Shores pier is generally considered to be the friendliest pier on the coast, but the fishing kind of sucks right now.

In general, common species caught from the pier are spanish mackerel, King mackerel, Redfish, flounder, whiting, bluefish, Jack crevalle, speckled trout, and sharks. And the more seasonal fish would be cobia and pompano, but the occasional few will show up time to time. Bass tackle will get you by on many of these species. You'll need a little bit bigger setup for kings as they take a lot of line on the first "run". Hope this helps you.
For or line and leader setups, the search bar is your best friend on this forum. Good luck and welcome dude.

When you go to the pier keep your eyes and ears open (you can learn a lot from just watching others) but don't be afraid to ask for help from one of the regulars (you can always tell a regular; they're the ones who look like they know what they're doing because they do). You'll never find a nicer, more helpful bunch of people.

The best thing you can do is search the forum for info on the species you want to target and check the Report boards to see when the action starts picking up a bit.
Hiring Pier#r for at least a half day of fishing is the best investment in fishing you will ever make! He has come out of retirement on a part time basis.

Welcome to the forum jsteelefish!
Here is a link to give you an idea what fish should be available next week, in April (and throughout the year) at the GSPPier...

Yer best bet next week would be sheepshead with live shrimp around the deep end of the pier.
Even if is ain't happenin you will get some good experience and advice ;-)(RETIRED) mostly.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
