Best month for fishing?
Looking at the charts, I would have to say the month of May would be the best time for someone like myself to travel down to the Pier. I know it depends on what type of fish an individual is targeting, but May seems to be the best in general...agree or disagree?

I fished a week mid April and a week early May this year. The kings were scarce both trips and the Spanish have been hit and miss. Pompano and sheepshead fishing was killer in April. Flounder, specs, and reds were biting better in early May. Usually the water clarity and temperature is a little better in May. In a normal year I would bet my marbles on May but this year has been far from normal. I'm hoping late June will be good as well.

The month of May SHOULD be good, but the cold fronts are still making their way across the country every week or so and can mess up the water, just like in April. You are right---the fish are supposed to all be here and partying hard by then---just didn't happen this year.

There was 20" of rain in 12 hours from 4pm April 30th to 4am May 1st. Several boats and PWCs were floated off their lifts and were loose in the bays and ICW. Flippers in Orange Beach was 3' under water as were several houses. The pier parking lot was 95% under water. The State Park Beach Pavilion parking lot was under water. Several condos had water under them.

Wow! That's a lot of rain!
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
