Berkley Gulp shrimp on the pier ???
Does anyone use Berkley gulp shrimp on the pier? I have used it in the passes, bay and surf but never on the pier. Does anyone have any luck?
Thanks!

Guilty yer honor :
I've caught a few white trout and flounder on them.
Oh, and a (slot) redfish.(RETIRED) mostly.

#r, is the bite okay on them or is it much better with live bait? Can you weed out some of the baitfish and smaller fish with the gulp shrimp?
Thanks,
Toby

id say gulp to be less effective than live baits off the pier... and even using gulps you probably will not have a "cleaner" bite..pinfish and other trash fish love some gulp tails
Give a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years

Yes, to what Peaches said.
They are however fairly durable and IMHO a pak of Gulp Shrimp will out catch 1 1/2 dozen live shrimp of comparable cost most of the time.
Color and presentation are essential. :fishing:(RETIRED) mostly.

Thanks for the replies #r and Peaches.
What size do you normally use? 3" or 2"?
What size jig head do you use also?
Thanks,
Toby

Re: Berkley Gulp shrimp on the pier ???
I generally use 1/4 ounce with the 3", but 1/8 in shallow water and 3/8 in deep.
This summer I've been experimenting with the 2" and think they are the bomb! :headbang:
I like the 1/16 oz short shank jighead.
I've caught specks, reds, flounder, small pompano and whiting not to mention too many ladyfish :(RETIRED) mostly.
