    Beir on the Pier?

Now that I got your attention...

I usually surf fish, and will try the kayak this year in the bay out by Ft. Morgan. Last year I paid to walk all the way out to the end of the pier and met a couple of the dudes on here. Very nice folks to say the least.

Anywho....coming down over Easter break and since my fishing partner is stuck in St. Louis working I'm thinking about making my way to the pier to try an fish and not just BS for a day.

Last year while everyone was really nice it was pretty intimidating for a Bass fisherman from Mo.

I'm not bringing my surf rod and I don't have or need a cart for a day...but at a min....what do I need?

    Min Rod/Reel Size and Line/Cap.

    Rigs/bait

Cooler/what flavor of beer...my favorite is cold and makes me wobble.

Who wants to sponsor this redneck from Missouri?

one 30-40 size spinning reel of decent quality, with 12lb mono will suffice.

Shallows for pomps and whiting 1/4 - 1/3 piece of FRESH dead peeled skrimps carolina rigged with a 1oz egg. or a pre-made double pomp rig from bass pro or j&m works fine, also use a 1 oz-1&1/2oz pyramid sinker. small khale hooks i think they are a #2(i may be wrong)

idk if it'd be worth your time to try for spanish this early, but live shrimp with a very very very small split shot around the pilings for sheepies.

Beer.... um well i never drink and fish.. have you seen what a gotcha can do when wielded by a sober googan?

leave the beer in the parking lot, not allowed on the pier ....some locals come out with one rod , there is usually extra bait offered when it is plentiful and being caught by others .....we can only use one at a time (fresh) unless filling a bait bucket ....new fisher might stick with a looney jig gotten at J&M tackle on canal rd (white/white) there is usually someone around to help if needed in landing a large fish with net or gaff.....don't be intimidated just pay attention and try to get along when advice is offered
and have fun.....it is just fishing

still not sure if I am going to be there that week yet, but if I am..... I can help with most anything needed
    Bill..............
