Beer on the pier is a done deal
I talked to G.S. Councilman Joe Garris, whom I trust and respect, about the beer thing and he said that the whole thing came down from Montgomery and is a done deal and the G.S. approval was pretty much a formality. He said that it has been taken off the agenda for next Monday's meeting.
I guess it's just something we'll have to learn to live with and keep the cops on speed dial to come settle the problems. Crap!!!!
Our only other option would be to approach the Baldwin County ABC board about it.

Re: Beer on the pier is a done deal
I spoke with several councilmen tonight and like Haywire said, they are merely approving the license as a formality. Each of them told me that we need to take our complaints to the state board. Perhaps, they are right???
But then again, don't governmental bodies always point the finger to the other side???Here Pishy Pishy! (They like it when you talk sexy to 'em!)

Re: Beer on the pier is a done deal
This is from Fox10 news. I wonder how they will control the traffic at the gate? I thought the pier was already under staffed...
"The alcohol application would be for a grill that's to be built under the pavilion, which is at the base of the pier.
Park officials said alcohol would still not be permitted past the gate and out onto the pier itself. So folks couldn’t wheel out coolers full of beer. "

Re: Beer on the pier is a done deal
I got a message last night that they now plan to hold a public discussion at the Council meeting Monday on the beer at the pier. Probably because of all the publicity on TV. I may not do any good, but I'm going to go.

Re: Beer on the pier is a done deal
[font=comic sans ms][size=12pt] See ya there George. I want to hear the council’s response to people opposed to the beer and wine bar. I heard on WKRG last night that they are going to sell beer, wine and other adult beverages.
At least the consumption is limited to the pavilion. I hope they have a plan to police that idea, becuz I think booze on the beach is prohibited also.
I am sure that the price and long walk will make it a challenge to over indulge, that said, we all know there are those who are determined to beat the system.
I agree it is probably a done deal, but at least those who are opposed are allowed to have a say, and pending the outcome of the election, that may not be the case four years from now.

Yep. Going to that council meeting is probably pizzing into the wind because the facility is already under construction, today, at the pier. I'm STILL gonna go and speak my piece.
