    Beach Replenishment

When Gulf Shores did their beach replenishment project how far east did they go? Didn't know where to put this question, but since sand bar configuration is a factor in surf fishing I thought it wouldn't hurt to put it here.
Dance naked my friends, life is short.

I think the Dredging Project stopped at the State Park so it wouldn't interfere with Spring Breakers.
Of course I don't remember what happened yesterday; so I could be wrong

The eastward progress of the 2012-13 beach dredging project did stop at the western edge of the Gulf State Park around Jan 10, 2013.
As shown in the background of this pic from Dec 31, 2012

From there operations moved to Cotton Bayou and progressed westward to 300 yards east of the Gulf State Park Pier by the first week of March.
It stopped there and went back to Cotton Bayou and proceeded east to the Florida state line to finish.

Most, if not all of the dredging scars have been obliterated or distorted along the beach in the past three years.
But the shoaling on the east side of the GSPPier in 2014 is likely the indirect result of erosion of the sand on beaches east of the pier since the project.

Hopefully, things will return to 'normal' this year...

Is there still a decent trough on the West side?

The beach replenishment project seriously damaged the fishing from the Four Seasons pier. The water depth at the end of the pier in October 2014 was about 5 feet. I hate to hope for a hurricane but it might be what is needed to get us some water depth.

No offense, but don't be wishin' for us a hurricane. Way too much work gettin' ready and the aftermath is pure hell!
