    Baitcast Reel Question?

Any suggestions for a reasonably priced baitcast reel or combo that holds up to saltwater if cleaned/maintained properly?

Check Craigslist for an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 4500, 550, 6500, etc combo...you can often find combos for less than a new reel alone costs

I've been using baitcasters for decades and I find that as long as you keep them properly maintained/cleaned, they'll last a good while. For Spanish, Trout, Slot Reds, Flounder, Whiting, etc., I use what would generally be considered a bass rod/baitcast combo. I have a large baitcaster for flinging larger lures for kings, bigger Spanish, bull reds, etc That one has been a larger Ambassadeur, or large Daiwa Millionaire. I think I paid about 60 - 70 bucks for each of those reels. I did have a knock-off made in China that I absolutely loved, but it just didn't hold up after only a couple of years of occasional use.

    Get you a Ci4 ambassador 6500 , cast a mile , about $ 115 , the 6500 will hold enough line for a king or jack
