Bait Question
Last time I was in town I purchased a bucket from J&M that has a battery operated pump. I used it for shrimp. Would this be sufficient to keep alive any LYs that i catch with a sabiki? If not, how do you keep your live bait alive?

Allen, the bubble bucket works for ly but you have to change water regularly. When the Spanish are hot on the little ly in the fall, or when the ly are scarce on the end but available shallow, the bucket makes sense. I went to a five gallon bucket with holes drilled in it, but they make a net bait holder if you want to invest in one. They are collapsible. If you like live bait, then some system for keeping some around is helpful. When the kings are around, bait can get scarce.

Rich1 is right. The bucket with a pump will work but not for long. It is not the preferred ideal method. Water gets dirty and warm. Bait usually dies within an hour. Most use a floating bait pail with holes that allow the water to flow through and float it in the water with a rope. Hope this helps.

Or have wife hold a LY in each hand and drop her to the end of the rope. I recommend a bucket as the screaming and cussing annoys others fishing nearby.

Bring a kid with you. Catching an LY every couple of minutes is more enjoyable for them, they don't care what kinda fish they catch, its still a fish!
And they can give them away until you need one. At which point, they wont catch another one for 20-30 minutes.Carl

One of the fall time hard core Spanish guys( either Don Pate,Andy from Tuscallosa or Aubry) use a product called pogey saver by Sure-Life,look it up. It turnes the water neon green and does the same thing to the bait after a while. The bait looks awesome in the water all lit-up.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
