    Bait

    Plan on coming to pier in the morning do i need to bring fozen cigs, or can live bait be caught?

    There will be bait, but I would bring some cigs anyway. Sometimes the bait will leave and you'll be stuck twiddling your thumbs if you don't bring any.

    This is my official stance on bait. If you bring bait, there will be plenty of bait around the pier. If you do not bring bait, there will be no bait around the pier.

    This morning, bait was plentiful until 8am, then they were hard to catch. I was in a hurry, so I ran up to the pier house and bought a bag of cigs. I got back out to the end, and there was bait everywhere. I didnt even use the cigs, cause I was able to catch bait

    Definitely better safe than sorry. Those 1 lb bags from J&M can come in right smart handy

    The fish Tuesday were funny,I never got a bite on a cig but they would nail a dead LY.

    You got that right. Worked the same way going offshore: If we caught a livewell full of livebait, it was asure sign the something wasnt gong to work out right!

    I always take a couple of LYs home and freeze them so I have them for the next trip to the pier.

    Thanks for the advice, I made it this morning and had a blast caught a cooler full of Spanish, and saw some nice kings hit the deck.
