    back-up plan

well it's not looking too good for the kings. wanting some eating fish to bring home but will fish for anything that will bite. we have thought about a snapper trip and maybe renting a kayak if weather and water conditions permit. I guess we'll play it by ear.

I can't see how snapper trips are worth it, even if you have your own boat with a limit of 2, it's just not worth it to me. I have "heard" of a good trout bite in the canal, but have not seen evidence. If you just want something to eat though go get some live shrimp and bull minnows and set up camp just before or just after the cleaning shelves on the pier, you are almost guaranteed flounder and possibly a red. Just my amateur thoughts.

I know it's a 2 fish limit on the red snappers but they're not the only fish caught.

When its all said and done its probably cheaper just to buy your fish. But where's the fun in that? Friends with kids is the ticket during ARS season, load the boat with as many as you can. As stik said, there's plenty of fish the be caught.

I know I'll never get ahead when it comes to fishing. But then again, I'm not really trying. Someone should have showed me a fish market before they got me addicted to this thing called fishing.

Friend of mine went out Saturday, not sure how many miles but it was in a 26CC, and he came back with a NICE Cobia...in addition to his 2 snapper. Now that's some good eatin, a few times too.
