Anyone want to show me the ropes?!
In Gulf Shores from Iowa until Saturday morning. I want to go fishing on the Pier and would love to have the company of someone who knows how to fish the pier. Mike.

All you need to do is walk out & watch what the regulars are doing & ask questions! Most guys will be glad to help if you ask before you cast!

Thanks! Can I rent a pole etc right at the pier? Or should I go to a bait shop. Can't wait, I think tomorrow is the day. Mike

The 'poles' they rest at the pier are pretty crappy IMHO.
For about the same money you could buy a 7' 10# class combo at J&M, get your Bubble rigs, jigs, leader material and advise all in one stop!
Be out there well before sunup to take full advantage of the early bite (and bring donuts to make friends faster ;-)

Welcome aboard!!! The rental rigs at the pier are not worth the rental price.
Steer clear of the plastic junk at wally World and go to J & M Tackle in Orange Beach; tell them you are first timer at the pier and what your budget is. They will treat you like family and get you set up with only what you NEED.

If you see my cart with the yellow "Haywire" flag, come introduce yourself and I'll give you whatever help I can. I don't get out real early due to other commitments, but I'll be there at some point.
Don't miss a chance to go to J&M Tackle.

Great guys thanks! As of right now I plan to head to j&m about 9 am tomorrow and then right to the pier most of the day and maybe even some evening fishing after dark. I don't really care "what" I catch, just hope to catch something to keep it fun. I will certainly look for you hawire!

I will be there Saturday look for an old sailor with a rather large mustache. Might not be able to see the old sailor part. Just a saying.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
