Extreme Kayak Tournament
I wanted to do this last year, but it was to far away. This year, it is about 3.5 hours from where I live. If any kayakers want to come down and fish it, you can stay at my apartment. The date is March 3rd.

This tourney is in Pompano Beach. Target water depth is 400 feet. You just have to paddle a 30-50 minutes to get in that depth! In March, dolphin, sailfish, monster king, Wahoo and Tuna plus bottom species are all over the place.
Cant wait!

Dang that sounds like fun!!
I've been thinking about getting into yakking but I already have a boat I don't use much. Don't think the wife will let me get another one.
Good luck with the tourney Bubba!

Re: Extreme Kayak Tournament
Whoever goes should slap a camera on their yak and let us share the ride.

Re: Extreme Kayak Tournament
ooh I just might have to take you up on your offer Bubba...the kayak is decked out and just waiting on warmer weather as of right now. Kinda wish I had a Hobie though...paddlin for that long, I know for a fact the ole arms and back are gonna get tired. I've got a GoPro, this should be fun!

Yeah, you never know when a stray dog will swim up to your yak with the camera rolling.

You DO NOT want a Hobie for that water, unless it was a Pacific Angler! I have seen too many Revo's and outbacks swamped by freak waves in the gulf.
Also, learn to paddle with your legs and back. Keep your arms straight. Lean forward and pull your self backwards with your back and legs. Keep your arms straight and just use them to hold the paddle.
What kind of kayak did you get?

Fortunately, Blackfin, mahi, and sailfish are NOT on that list.
