Any fish in Oyster Bay?
If one was considering a move to the area, and wanted access to fish able waters, and perhaps located a property close to Oyster Bay - would it be worth the time?
Good times, Good friends, Great Beer. You can buy all three - But it's always better to invest the time to make your own.

Oyster Bay south of the ICWW is very shallow and difficult to navigate. We have caught small trout, reds, and flounder, but not many and usually bypass it when fishing the area. There are good spots in the general area though, depending on time of year.
One thing we have not done is try it before first light which you might be able to do with a shallow draft boat if you live nearby. Trout are very skittish in shallow water.
In the summer the ICWW is one of the best areas to fish because of depth, especially at night under lights. Pretty soon, as the first cold fronts start passing, the trout will be heading into the Bon Secour River for some very good trout fishing until the water gets so cold that they head for their holes. They may be staging in the lower parts already, but I have not fished it lately.
You also have reefs nearby in the Bay. All in all, if you like inshore fishing and have a boat, it is a good area.
Edit: I should add we have caught some real doormat flounder and bull reds in the area. The crabbing is good and shrimping is fair - you'll see the live bait shrimpers working the mouth of the Bon Secour fairly often, which is never a bad sign.People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.
If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
