Amendment 40 passed and Redfish are the next target
The Gulf Council approved Amendment 40. This means as much as 47% of the recreational red snapper quota will be taken away from the fishing public and given to charter boats. What this boils down to is that you can catch snapper yourself for a few days or pay to participate in a longer season on a federally permitted boat.
We've all seen NOAA destroy the recreational red snapper fishery. Now, they are looking to take over red drum. Under the false premise of collecting scientific data, NOAA is looking to start letting for-hire and commercial boats harvest a limited number of redfish in federal waters. The fact that NOAA wants to screw with redfish, a fishery that is wonderfully managed to the benefit of both the fish and fishermen, shows again that they cannot be trusted to do the right thing. I'll post the link to comment on the proposed program, but it is clear that comments from anglers do not mean much to NOAA. https://www.votervoice.net/mobile/CO.../40055/Respond

We need a way to prevent all this political intrusion. I do hope some people will listen. If it has something to do with money, the gov will try to own it. https://www.votervoice.net/mobile/CO.../40055/Respond
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
