Allure of The Pier
So this guy (me) in his seventies and his wife go out on this Pier in Navarre, FL with his cousin back in February 2017. Cousin lends us a few rods, we get some bait and go out the next afternoon on our own to fish. We didn't catch any fish but we had a great time and I think we contracted "Pier Fishin Fever". What was it. I don't particularly like being in salt water or hanging out on the beach but for an occasional walk. There was something about that pier, the friendly people, being out over the ocean not on it. Don't like cruises either. We both like being outdoors while doing something fun. The pier experience is setting in. Not like a charter you can come and go as you please on your own schedule. Fast forward to March of 2018. Found this forum and began to learn a few things on Pier Fishing in Gulf Shores. We had never been to Gulf Shores. As luck would have it we have some friends who have a condo out on Ft Morgan road. We got a great deal and the trip was on. What a great experience on the Gulf Shores State Pier.
The accommodations and the people there made for a great trip. After our first afternoon out on the pier it became quickly evident there was a whole lot more to learn about pier fishing methods, tackle, and rigs. All the more fun and challenging. I thought I had designed the perfect rigs with a converted rolling cooler with rod holders cleverly attached along with a folding luggage cart for the first mate to handle the chairs and live bait bucket. By the time we drug these contraptions out across the panels on the pier we were wore out! I'm thinking we may not be in good enough shape for this pier fishing thing. Looking around a light came on as to why these people had the carts with the "big" wheels. A quick trip down to J&M Tackle the next morning and a new pier cart solved our fear and fatigue problem. Back home in Kentucky and the pier cart and tackle upgrades began. Added rod holders, a plywood bottom and several new rods and reels. Amazon love's me! Be back this fall! Thanks Ya'll!

most of the sporting goods stores like Academy stock a collapsible wagon that is easy to travel with yet opens up into a very useful cart to haul your stuff out on the pier. They have one model that usually sells for $59 and and a bigger one for $99. I have been using one of these for several years.

There's no known cure for "Pier Fever" it can only be treated , Treatment is to be standing on any Pier with a fishing rod in hand breathing that salt air , Needs to be treated regulatory .

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
