    Alabama Rig

Has anybody tried an Alabama rig yet? Someone shopping at j&m was telling me about his homemade rig two weeks ago. He said he had not tried it yet at that time. He got me to thinking about it. A local bait and tackle shop sells them and I kinda want to try one. Thanks.

    Never heard of it.

The "Looney Jig" is a good jig and sold locally, he's also a forum member but I don't recall his SN.

    J & M carries his jigs.

Looney Jigs work great. I haven't heard them called Alabama Rigs though.
Can you describe the Alabama Rig?

    Re: Alabama Rig

I didn't know what it was at first until I googled it. It's made by Mann's tackle. Looks like an offshore umbrella rig thing and takes five jig heads and body's. My great uncle has a tackle shop and he has knock offs but I can't find anyone who has used one yet. I would post pic but I can't on my phone. Terry looney made me 100 of those looney jigs in late summer, I'm a big fan of those jigs. They catch fish!

I seen on TV Sunday where the Alabama Rig took 1st and 2nd place on Kentucky Lake in the FLW Tour.4 day limits were going around 58 to 60 lbs.

Imagine 4 gotchas hanging off the arms, being cast off the end by someone with no sense of what is around them. The 8 flying hooks of terror. uke:

Looks like it would be heavy enough to cast with straws -- you'd be able to pick up those spanish that follow the first one with the hook all by yourself.
