african ponpano
i see its on the state record list but ive never seen one caught at the pier or anywhere... has anyone heard of or seen some?

Hunter Gianinni caught one about two years ago down around the T. I hooked and lost one at the same area last spring fishing for pompano and saw others around as well.

Often in August & September (at th pier) we start seeing what locals call "thread fish".

These are juvenile African pompano.
They gradually loose the long ends of their fins as they grow larger.

Some asians were screaming african pompano last weekend while dehooking a sabiki.
Had to explain to them what a harvestfish was.
It may have been 5" long at best, and they still kept it. :

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
