Advice for handicapped fisherman
I have been following this forum for more than a year as a guest but recently joined. Thanks to all for the posts that give me a brief moment of escape to the GSP each day. I will be down for the week of Thanksgiving and bringing my handicapped mother that loves to fish. We are staying around the 10 mile mark of fort Morgan rd on the bay. The house has a pier that should provide wheelchair access. Can we expect to catch anything? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It may just be catfish and croakers, but you should be able to catch 'something'.
Try 1/2 piece of peeled (fresh) dead shrimp on the bottom, or even under a bobber.
It really depends on the water depth and if there are lights on the pier that draw in baitfish (thus gamefish).
Also it depends on the weather you experience that week.
A north wind or hard east or west wind could mess up fishing even if it's a good spot.
I hope the weather favors you all!(RETIRED) mostly.

Dave, That was a very nice post to help Sacalait out, thank you very much. The people on this forum are just amazing, you guys are so helpful, thoughtful and just all right, nice guys. Hopefully, you can take a jab once in a while, (Haywire), it sounds like you can on the forum as long as it isn't nasty.
Thank you forum members, for all of the info that you have posted for us fresh water fishermen, who enjoy winter fishing in the Gulf, but lack the technique, knowledge & experience to do saltwater fishing successfully. At my age, I don't have time to make mistakes, and if I'm going to do it, I might just as well do it right.
We have spent three Winters in TX. and last year in FL. and this is the first place that has had a forum, that I have known about, (thanks to Dave, who told me about it.) The forum is great, and it is great because of you guys, who make it what it is. A job well done fellows!!! I am looking forward to meeting as many of you that I can this Winter, and maybe I can tell you a story about a walleye (Haywire).

Thanks for the great tips! You guys never cease to amaze me by your generosity and willingness to help all of us inept fishermen that crowd your fishing spots on the rails. I look forward to coming down and hopefully get the opportunity to meet many of you and thank you personally.

Flyguy---I'll be happy to listen to your fish story if you'll bring me a walley fillet. I keep hearing that they are the best eating around, and I would love to pronounce final judgement on that.

Think Positive and put a hook in the water. I have caught Specs at night under lights in this area. Flounder is a good possibility at that time with bull minnows or strip baits. Croaker is a good eating fish.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
