Thread: 8/29/12 Afternoon Isaac Report

[size=12pt][font=comic sans ms]It was windier today than yesterday so shaky video and blurred photos again.
I just made a round through Gulf Shores and swung by the pier, but the entrance is still blocked so no pier shots. The pier crew has kept us up to date anyway with on site photos.

Weir on 135 – Several folks fishin’ and gulls diving. What the heck; thew out a Yo-Zuri and immediately hooked up a seagull! I don’t know who was madder, me or the gull. Turned him loose and headed home.

One good thing about these storms is that it back floods the Weir on Hwy 135 and the Reds start hitting. Be forewarned, Game and Fish are hitting that area too .

[size=12pt][font=comic sans ms]Yeah, when I stopped there were about 6 or 8 people fishing and probably not a one of them had a permit and one guy said a fella had been throwing a net earlier. I think throwing a net is a no-no in that area.

What's up with the bellies on those redfish? What were they catching them on? I drove by them today and it looked like a madhouse over there.

Some of those fish appear to have been dead for quite some time. I would suspect crabs or turtles went to work on their bellies.

any idea as to what they were catching them on?

I suspect the perps caught a few, ran out of bait and started cutting belly strips to catch more.

Sure would like to hear the whole story :-X

[size=12pt][font=comic sans ms]As I went through there, the people I saw were using dead shrimp, but I didn’t see them catch any of the Reds. I agree with #r on the belly strips, if crabs did that they used a knife.
When the man showed up, those fish were probably caught by Idon T Knowho and abandoned.
