7ft 6in med heavy with a VR 125
Would this be adequate for cigar minnows and live baiting , would have it spooled with 15 lbs super slick mainly

Would work for all Spanish and most Kings. I'm guessing at least 300 yards of braid?? Let a big king run a while against the drag and don't hoss him in too fast. Make sure the king is tried and gulping air at the gaff.

That combo will be sufficient. i've used 14 or 15lb mono on some of my lighter rigs and had good success with reds and jack. I 2nd Mr. Bills advice. mono is a bit more forgiving, braid as a backer with 17-20lb mono topshot is hard to beat.

More then the distance you can cast, maybe twice or 3 times the distance for retying and breakoffs, unless only fishing a day or 2
The joining knot should always stay on your reel during the cast and preferred baried under line, only to be taken off by a big fish running,
always use semi loose drag, some fish scream and you won't be quick enough to loosen it before you hear snap.....adjusting it as you fight the fish closer , then apply more at the pier to control your fish....get the head out of the water as soon as you can (it takes the fight out of the fish waiting on net or gaff)Bill..............
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
