...
Overall, only four categories – scamp, swordfish, grouper and wahoo – did not have at least one entry.

Fish that didn't make it to the weigh station still stars of 82nd ADSFR's second day
By Jeff Dute | jdute@al.com on July 18, 2015 at 9:10 PM, updated July 18, 2015 at 9:11 PM
The second day of the 82nd Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo was highlighted by a bunch of fish that didn't even make it to the Dauphin Island weigh station.
The crew of Karl Baldwin, Danny Winstanley, Randy Winstanley, and Danny Vise padded their lead in the new shark catch-and-release special category after rodeo assistant judge Dr. Marcus Drymon video-verified another 26 successful releases.
The sharks included a combination of blacktip and spinner sharks, each worth a single point and leaving the team with 37 total points after two days of competition.
As they had done on Friday, Danny Winstanley said the team simply drifted Dauphin Island's front beach from the end of the houses to the west to near the large condominiums to the east while dragging fresh-dead menhaden behind the boat.
The team lead by Mark Collier is in second with 14 points and Gary Smallwood and crew are in third with 4 points.
Among the sharks the Collier team caught and released Saturday was a majestic tiger shark estimated to be at least 10 feet long along with two hammerheads. Those large sharks are worth four points each.
The live speckled trout weigh-in continued to be a center of attention for fishermen and spectators. Nearly three-dozen trout were released successfully, including the 7.89-pounder Patric Garmeson brought in shortly after the noon hour.
Garmeson's fish ate a live menhaden free-lined in the Mobile River and leads the regular category, Speckled Trout Jackpot and live weigh-in special category.
Brad Kirksey's 7.58-pound fish and Riley Coleman's 7.38-pounder, both also from the Mobile River, are in second and third respectively.
At the weigh station, Rodeo Judge Dr. Bob Shipp made special mention of the large numbers of gafftopsail catfish and jack crevalle passing over the scales.
"I think the obvious emphasis so far has been on the nearshore species because we've seen an awful lot of jack crevalle and gafftops," Shipp said. "There have also been a lot of big triggerfish and a whole lot of red snapper, which is surprising since considering that a lot of people are not fishing for snapper.
"I am looking for a lot of big fish to come in Sunday."
Nineteen of the 30 regular categories had new leaders as of the end of the second day. The leaderboard always undergoes another major makeover when the larger boats that have been offshore since Friday begin making their way to the weigh station.
The scales open at 10 a.m. Sunday and the rodeo officially closes with three cannon blasts at 5 p.m.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
