2 Piece Rods
Alright, my first pointy-headed question of the new year. Working on cleaning/de-salting rods and reels and spooling new line on the bunch. Trying to interject the power of positive thinking into the pier water temperatures!
I have a couple 2-piece rods that I use occasionally for heavier lures and bait rigs. My neighbor stated I should permanently join the two pieces if storage/transportation are not a problem. Good ol' super glue to prevent separation during a fish fight.
I know each rod is somewhat scientifically created for the various pressures and flexes... so permanent joining seems to me to put the science at risk. Throw me some thoughts on this... haven't done anything yet and transportation is NOT a problem.
Let me know some thoughts on this notion please.

I wouldn't use super glue. A long-set two-part epoxy or rod builders epoxy would be best. I don't think that gluing a two piece rod to make a one piece will effect the action, should be the same.

I'm pretty sure you'd break the blank before the ferrule came apart on most modern rods. Especially given the fighting angle from the pier or surf. A good number of my go-to rods are 2-piece and I have never had an issue with them coming apart in thousands of fish. It's also nice to be able to break them down to keep one in the truck for unexpected fishing stops driving around town or when you may have to catch a ride to the water with your buddy who drives a carolla.

I was given a tip on mine....start at 45degress and as you bring the two pieces together twist until they are straight and tight at the connection ....this was on one with out the metal ferrules .... reverse to take apart....at the end of the trip I had a heck of a hard time getting it back apart....but did .....no way fight a fish would that have ever come apart straight out without the twisting .....advice....John g ....no way I would permanently join a two piece rod after that little lesson ....looking at a couple more 2 piece old conolon blanks for the future and my travels when the full size van has to go.....I will miss that old van for our trips....plenty of room for all and my gear, bed to relax on the 14-1/2 hr trip
for metal ferrules my Dad would always rub his nose to get a slight amount of oil from it on his finger and apply to the metal before joining the two pieces ....made it easier to take apartBill..............

Never had one fail fighting a fish, but have been embarrassed with a hard cast causing the top half to slide down the line. Just make sure the end piece is well seated.

Thanks to all. Gonna leave 'em alone.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
