Well, dang it. I thought that those of us who trolley fished did a good job of staying out of the way of others. Sure was a good way for me to fish for kings with my physical ailments. Reckon I'll start learning the intricacies of single line trolley fishing and the good thing about that is that I can do it off the octi.

The worst thing about one line trolley is that when the shark gets your king, he gets that expensive sputnik too. I guess I'll go back to just using a 3 oz pyramid. I have worked out how to JB Weld some #10 copper into the eye. Takes time, but what's time to an old retired fart.

You guys (who trolley fish) really need to discuss this with Joe.
Two line trolleys are the best way to go and technically the weight rod is not "fishing" just in 'use'.
Otherwise single line trolley use will only lead to MORE frustration (and tangles) for anglers...

Oops----further investigation reveals that even single line trolleys will be prohibited on the octi and may be punishable by defenestration.

I would be happy to talk with someone about one and two-line trolleys. After doing the two line trolley for a couple of years, I thought all was peace and love as long as we stayed off the octi, and I can certainly see why they should be kept off the octi.

As far as single line trolleys on the octi mentioned by Haywire. I can see that proscription between the yellow lines, but outside the yellow lines I don't see the difference between single line trolley and bottom fishing, but that's just me. They will make the rules as they see fit. I do hope they make it clear.

I've been thinking about a helium balloon, but one would have to keep the bait down where the seagulls couldn't get it. A bait flopping on the surface the way they like them for billfish, etc. would be awfully inviting to the feathered thieves.

Maybe a plastic bubble full of water would let you keep it down.
