11/23/2012 Edge trip
Well, it's been almost 5 months since I've been able to fish offshore. The boat I normally fish on has had some issues with her motors but was was recently repowered. The new motors ran great, purred like a kitten.
There were six of us on this trip and given this was the first offshore trip with the new motors, we stayed within 30 miles or so of Pensacola pass. We hit the Edge and did some trolling first thing in the morning. This produced 6 blackfin tunas and too many bonita to count. We put the blackfins on ice and saved some of the bonita for deep drop bait for a future trip.
We then did a little bottom fishing and were able to get a limit of grouper (21 scamp, 1 red grouper, and 2 speckled hinds), a limit of amberjack, and two almaco jacks. I failed to mention that on our way out of the pass, we were able to 'sabiki' about 70 cigar minnows and threw them in the live well. all of the grouper were caught on the live cigar minnows.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
