    New Cooker

Did my first cook on my new CharGriller Akorn. I did chicken and the Akorn did its magic. Was well pleased with it!

Looks good, now I gotta get out of bed and find something to eat for breakfast! Nice job!

Did you have to season your cooker? I hear some people swear by seasoning it and some say its not necessary.

Yes I did season the grates. Clean the grates with hot soapy water, hand dry and coat with vegetable oil and fire the smoker at 350-400* for 3 hours.

Thanks paymaster, one of these days I'm going to break down and get me one or that style. Way too many good reviews on them.

I have that same grill and love it. Took a little bit to get used to for grilling things like steaks and burgers but just took a little trial and error. Absolutely love it for smoking things like shoulder and brisket and it's a great pizza oven since it can attain such high heat levels. Chicken looks great and give pizza a try on it if you get a chance.
