King Mackerel Tip
I fished Destin last week, while down there the only fish we caught that we could keep were Lane Snapper and King Mackerel. I normally don't care much for Kings but while cleaning them I got a tip from an old man, he advised cutting them in 4 sections, trimming the red out and then soaking them in Sprite for about 30 minutes before grilling. I seasoned with Redfish Magic and grilled them, then Lanes that were all that was left after supper. Don't know if I would fry them but they were very good grilled.

Well that's a fine recipe and thanks for sharing, but how many kings did you catch, was the bite steady, what were they biting on and was flipper being hateful?
Details?

Rich we were fishing from my boat, we caught 4 kings on 4 casts, biggest 22 lbs, smallest 13....about 3 miles offshore, bait was cigar minnows, caught ll we needed with 1 cast of my net at the Destin Marina and as for Flippers, we saw several but the did not eat any of the fish we released.

Recipe sounds good to me.
I like Lemon Pepper seasoning and onions on my grilled King.

I tried it and it worked, I will try it once more time to be sure. The old man that told me about it owns Destin Marina, he said that in the old days it was Club soda and lemon juice so I guess it might be a citrus thing
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
