Japanese-style Fried Spanish Macs
Cant remember if I posted this one before, but with the Spanish mac run kicking in, its timely:
Saba Tatsutaage
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Yield: 2 servings
Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp Cooking Sake
- 1-2 tsp ginger root, grated
- 2 Saba (Spanish mackerel) fillets
- Katakuriko (potato starch) or corn starch or flour/cornstarch mix
- oil
Instructions
- Mix soy sauce, Sake, and grated ginger in a bowl. ( you can use Terriyake sauce, just water it down a little)
- Cut fillets into 3-4 pieces each and marinade in the sauce for 10 minutes. (I marinate for a few hours)
- Remove the moisture with a paper towel and coat lightly in Katakuriko.
- Deep fry the fish at 350F (180C) for 3-5 minutes.
