    Crawfish & Shrimp Boil

    Crawfish & Shrimp Boil

Went to a crawfish & shrimp boil today at a friend/coworker's house on Dauphin Island.
This was sponsored by our employer for exceeding sales quotas in the first quarter.
It turned into a much larger event with several of our customers invited and other friends and neighbors.
A great time was had by all, no less than six pots were dumped on the main table and it was all devoured every time.
Live crawfish, jumbo shrimp caught that morning, fresh Conecuh sausage, potatoes, sweet corn, mushrooms, heads of garlic, Brussel sprouts and cauliflower cooked in a great spicy boil.

    Fresh batch coming off boil

Stopping the cook and allow it to absorb boil

    Going to the table

I love a good boil, do several every summer, try putting a pack or 2 of hotdogs in one of the batches, you won't be disappointed.

Why hotdogs when you've 10lbs of Conecuh sausage already cut up?

    Yes'sir, some fine eating!
I was like a tick on a hound by the end of the day.

One of the best thing is taking a whole head of garlic, soft as butter, squeezing it all over a spicy potato and then eating it.
The spicy garlicy equivalent of a candied apple, oh man was it good

Hey John, something else I learned from a crawfish boil my buddy did a few weeks ago, put in mushrooms and chunked up pineapple. You will not be disappointed.

The hotdogs are like a sponge, I am friends with the Sessions family....so of course the Conecuh goes in...but the hotdogs are for eating, not for seasoning, but everytime I have gotten someone to try the hotdogs, they have thanked me later its just hard to describe and cheap to try?

I hadn't seen the pineapple either. You get the sweetness and it soaks up the heat to. Really good!

What?!?! Seasoning? That sausage goes in at the end just to warm it up, it is for eating and gets fought over.

I know what you're saying about soaking up spices, just like shrooms, cauliflower and the pineapple RockinChef referred to earlier.
I might have to try it with some good hotdogs, order some Nathan's or some such.
