I hear Ya Greg. Years ago,the way I got people to quit using their phones on my time was to grab it out of their hands and slam it on the floor. Once that happened a couple times things have been fine.

I'm confused!!!
My parents payed good money for me to do BAD things at a young uns age. Me posting on this fishing forum could have granted them a few more hours if sleep!
FWIW-them old days are done and gone, all that " back when" stuff will leave ya sitting there wondering what the hell just happened! Like it or not, this day and age technology and computers run this world. Ya either got to like it and learn it or step aside while someone else does!
Yall young uns gotta keep on keeping on!
People need to chill out. Who cares if the kids are on a fishing forum while in school. They could be doing much worse. He'll when i was 17 all we did was burn doobies and chase tail for a hobby. If I was like them maybe I wouldn't have got in so much trouble back then. The way I see it is a kid that gets up a 4am to go fishing ain't staying out till 4am getting in trouble. So some of us need to get off our soap box.
Im glad I learned how to play on the internet. It worked out pretty well for me.
What you older guys dont realize is, the internet is employing millions of people. Its a valuable skill to learn in school.
Calculators give you answers to math questions, so no more math needed.
Google Chrome and MS Word spell check for you, so no more spelling needed.
Wikipedia and Google answer all your questions, so no more dictionaries or encyclopedias are needed.
With Google, you can know as much as your teacher on any subject, so teachers arent needed.
Google Maps tells you where everything is, so no more Geography needed.
Just learn how to read and write.
Some people do realize that times have changed and technology is they way of the future. if you don't figure that out your get left behind.
Well said highwaygun and bubba, you don't have to like it but you better accept it. I work/worked with a lot of " old school " guys. Too many cats and not enough mice to play the old school card these days!
at least theyre in school.. i was laying out to actually go fishing instead of reading about it...
I would highly recommend this as a career path for teens... or anyone for that matter. Choosing SEO as Your Career
While technology is great I don't believe we need to become dependent on it. I still think there is a limit to the amount of technology we should use. Personal communication skills are being lost to emailing, texting, etc. The value of a book is nearly gone since the e-readers have become popular. This trend scares me!
I am not going to get on my soapbox about this but just think what would happen if a "major disaster" were to occur where there was no internet/power for an extended period (months/years). Yes, many backup plans are in place so I won't argue with you there, but who are the back up plans for? You? Me? No, big brother will be fully operational and all who have placed full dependence on technology will be at his mercy.
No amount of technology will be able to replace the ability to think critically. A skill that is taught in school in all the subjects the technocrats think are obsolete. You wanna become a slave to your creation? Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C Clark saw it in 1968 with 2001: A Space Odyssey.
man i swear y'all take one thing and argue about it like its facebook.....this is a fishing forum not a we need to fix the american schools forum....dont worry about the kids on here let us be us.... for one you don't no me personaly so why do you always take interest in me divedeep i don't no you and you dont no me .....this is the last thing ill say before this thread gets locked ive said it before ill say it again divedeep do not worry about me or any other teen on this website...thanks kingkiller
Far more than that, I worry about becoming a slave to our government as was seen in the book "1984" by George Orwell Nineteen Eighty-Four - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ironically we're discussing this topic over the web.

You're right. Technology is a wonderful tool. But nothing more than a tool to make our lives easier. As long as you are able to think critically, you can decide to log off any time you want. If you allow yourself to become a drone and blindly believe technology is the solution to all life's problems, you become controlled by its dark side--addictive gaming, targeted ads, unlimited access to porn, etc.
Wait... Unlimited access to porn is available??? The dark side... is that where you get it??
Good grief, the kids screw off at school... we all did it and we try it at work and on, and on, and on. Every generation is convinced their offspring are the dregs, and there is no hope for the world. Yet they invent, and build, and lead... and live.
When I was in school I used to draw little planes on paper and fold the paper and make black dots to try to hit the planes. Kinda the same concept. I didn't pay attention then and I wouldn't pay attention now.
Threads like this keep me on line way more than I want to be!
When Al Gore invented the internet, he meant well and it has become the gospel to some . I think it is here to stay though.
Where can I find that porn stuff someone said is on computers?
Out of deference to your time online, I will voluntarily turn over my king. Ende
DD, your wanting us to pay your share of taxes because these young adults are using a fishing forum while at school? Correct? Didnt you post previously that you work for the DOD or a government agency or something of that nature? Kind of hypocritical to judge these guys for doing the same thing youre doing while on our clock.
I encourage you young guns to get an education and become as fluent as you can with computers and technology. Like I said before, it is what it is. You don't have to like it but you better learn it because someone else can and will.
FinChaser---Regarding that porn, I kind of got an idea of how old I really am when I was driving through Loxley yesterday and realized that I'd rather stop at the Massey Ferguson tractor place than the Adult Video store next door. It hurts.
Just keeping the thread on topic.
Not sure what you're talking about, but when I was on the DOD network, there was no internet as we know it. It involved 12 hours of sitting a computer terminal waiting for an ear shattering alarm to go off announcing incoming traffic. Copying that traffic -- Alpha, Charlie, Zulu, etc etc, getting it to the officer of the day and transmitting any reply that might be necessary. Between traffic, we were working on other things. Nothing hypocritical about it. I guarantee you, Uncle Sam got his day's work for a day's pay.
My last post on this thread.
Becoming fluent in the English language won’t hurt either. Some of the posts I have seen coming in via public school IP addresses show a lack of reading comprehension and failure to think before you type. Somebody said that computers will handle spelling for you; that feature must be disabled on school issued computers. Well, not just school computers!
Time spent on line on this forum or any other non-school assignment site during school hours is time taken away from getting an education. Last week of school, sure there is some dead time, but this has been going on for months. I can’t image why non-school work browsing is allowed on school owned computers.
I worked for a major corporation with thousands of employees, and I know from experience that they knew every move we made on company computers.
If the teachers are not providing a challenging curriculum that fills the day, somebody should be looking at the teacher’s ability to perform their job.
I’m done!
What I don't get is how this thread has 8 pages and 72 replies!
:crap
We covered a lot of ground in this thread!
And I found pornography... Nekkid pictures... On my iPad thingie.
And to bow to an earlier thread many moons ago... s a r c a s m.
THE END lets go fishin
Also, as search engines bcome more responsive, it makes learning so much easier. This just went live today. Google's Impressive "Conversational Search" Goes Live On Chrome and is only the beginning.
Way out of line, you should apologize to DD. A lot of you young uns need to be more respectful of adults, learn how to say:
Yes Sir, No Sir
Yes Ma'am, No Ma'am
Thank you
Know your role, never embarrass yourself or your family, act as if your mother was watching over your shoulder. Respect is earned, not given, in other words be more like Opie Taylor.
^^^ Let KK defend himself. That's between him and DD :) He wasnt offensive to DD, just got tired of being picked on.
(Note: I do not know KK personally, so I have no dog in this fight.)
wow.... like my daddy would say respect me and ill respect you divedeep has given me no reason to respect him. i respect my momma and my daddy yes sir, no sir, yes mam, no mam because if i didnt respect my daddy id be picking myself up off the floor constantly. and if your refering to drew taylor wow i cant find someone that embarrasses there family more.....
A good while back I blocked kingkiller and one other poster so I would not see their posts. As my posting history will verify, I publicly apologized to him when I made a post that seemed to upset him and have not had any communication with him since. He has leveled a very serious, very false accusation against me, one which disturbs me to my very soul. As a result I am requesting that the moderators delete my account as this is not an issue I take lightly. It's been fun being on here and I've very much enjoyed the conversations and debates but the time to go has obviously passed.
I apologize to anyone I've offended on here and assure you such was never my intent. Regards.
