Re: You carry?
iI have never felt the need to carry on the pier, even at night. To each his own, but why carry a gun on the pier? We are among way more friends than foes and I have never felt actually threatened by an occasional asshole; after all there is at least one in every crowd.
If we could land big ass sharks, maybe. :poke1:
With all the control crap going on right now, I would suspect that no matter where you go, anyone who spots a gun and doesn’t know the carrier will call the police.
Just to clarify; the term “you” is being used generically and not meant to point out any individual(s).
I sure will be glad when spring gets here and our discussions can get back to what’s really important; :fishing: :fishing: :fishing:
Thankfully it doesn't generally work that way here in the South, or I would be talking to the police all day long, every day.

Re: You carry?
You know if I didn't know a lot of the people out there, and know that its a great group of people, could definitely see the need and want to carry a ccw. For the most part though, its not needed there, the exception to me is when there is very few around, and the pier house closed or has minimal staff. Weird stuff has happened overnights, and you never know who has wondered over. Pepper spray and a cell phone would probably take care of 99% of people if threatened, but it makes sense to be safe than sorry. Its always good to not be alone, but if you happen to be, a ccw makes sense. If you think about it though, the only place to go if you get cornered out there is in the drink, and that's still a pretty good drop and a long swim possibly in dangerous waves and currents. During the day, there's pretty much always a few souls out there, and people working.
During peak season though, when people are crowded, and some irritated and angers are flaring; it would be nice if someone was around 24/7 to keep the peace. Chuck helped with that a lot the first couple of years, definitely miss him in that respect.
