1 Ohio license and a Utah ccw permit for states not reciprocal; with Ohio....like Alabama,Georgia and 9 others.....that was an extensive FBI background check taking a month to do(for out of state applicant)....unlike the Ohio..... dropped off at noon, got a call the next day.... first thing in the morning saying it was ready.....I guess with absolutely no record..... they can go quick.... :yay:
and hope and pray....... I never will need it

Agreed. Will probably never need it, but........
You bet I do. When I'm wearing enough clothes, I carry a .38 spl. Colt Cobra, otherwise I have a .380 KelTek in my pocket.
ATI M1911GI. Stays in my car. Can't afford the concealed permit for Florida yet. Don't need one though as long as it is in my car.
Always, the only place I don't is in Sunday school. Downtown Atlanta is full of street gangs now.
I do....
Glock 27 subcompact 40 cal
Also, do realize that it is legal for a licensed CC licensee to carry on the pier and in the park.
The Park's Rules list this exemption, the Pier's doesn't, I've confirmed this with the Park, we are good to go concealed. :)
By State law we should be allowed to Open Carry too, just as we can anywhere else.
But, the Park adamantly said no, that they can make their own rules and that anyone OC'ing would be at the very least told to leave or face trespassing charges. They do not have the authority to override State law, but I'll not :wall: on this, if my shirt rides up, oops, and cover it back up to satisfy the sheeple.

I thought long and hard about the KT .380 before getting the Walther .40, but already have a Beretta .25 for times when a bigger pistol isn't practical. I know it's small but with the Hornady hollowpoints, it's sufficient from 10' in - which hopefully I would have recognized a bad situation and taken steps to remove myself before it becomes an issue.

As Ole TR said, "Walk softly but carry a large bore pistol." Well, words to that effect anyway.
Better to have and NOT need....then to need and NOT have...we don't pick and choose when and where something might happen....
I do try and NOT put myself in situations where I normally wouldn't be around undesirable people to minimize my chances of a need.....but they can happen anywhere and as time and economy sours more....they will start to multiple....heck just coming out from a store there has been armed robberies here

i wish you would reconsider the .25. i saw a police officer beat a guy unconscious after being shot point blank by a 25auto. all it will do is piss somebody off.
:poke1:
Absolutely , I carry . Glock 19 ,9mm on my person and a Judge Taurus alternating a Hornady 45 colt 255 gr. cowboy with a 3" PDX1 .410 Defender in my truck. Like most all I hope I never have cause to use either .

Fail! Think of the actual reaction of the of the sheeple, as you call them. I could see a call to the police and a chance for you to show your permit at gunpoint as a best case scenario. Bad things can and do happen when weapons are drawn. To accidentally expose your weapon can be embarrassing to deadly. To intentionally expose your CCW is just a dickhead move.

Yep, that actually happened last year on the Octi. A guy exposed his cc by having his shirt tail caught behind the pistol grip. Weather it was intentional or not, it caused a lot of discussion among those in attendance.
It wasn’t long before two park rangers and the GSPD were on the scene.
so Finn what happened??
I have never felt the need on the pier....to many good people around to stop trouble....but might be in the car.... for the trip to and from....tourist sometimes can be a target ....and yes permits for it too
never fish after dark....but on the panama city piers I might have one with me there....herd of trouble after dark on that pier at the time....but again don't fish after dark.....past my bed time :3some:
Open Carry is legal in Alabama, and there is no law making it illegal to have a concealed weapon print or otherwise become visible to the public. You sound like you're trying to imply I would intentionally open carry after having discussed the matter with the park?
The park made it clear as to their standing, and I've carried concealed every time I've been on the pier, no one has seen it.
If it became visible I would not be embarrassed, nor afraid, police come they will clarify state law & park regs with a call to their superiors or the park.
Your best case scenario is what is full of fail.
I normally OC almost everywhere in public, rarely does anyone freak out and runs screaming or call for the police, not even in a crowded Walmart or Bass Pro.
Yes, the people/sheeple can and do rarely get downright panicky and call the police, I've had it happen, but I've never had a gun drawn on me. Not even while Open Carrying, and that has had me talk to the police only three times in the 12 +/- years I've OC'd.
Almost every interaction I've had with LE has been a relatively good experience, none have been a bad experience, just a run of the mill ID and have good day sir, carry on.
from what I remember reading..... Illegal on the pier....might be ok in the rest of the park....but pier no

According to Ranger Roger, the person said the gun was accidentally exposed and he had a cc permit. Evidently a cc permit trumps the No Firearms Rule.
BTW – The guy carrying was not and is not a member of this forum.

thanks for that clarification....still wouldn't feel the need ,and salt water and steel aren't to good together anyway .....I guess carry on ChileRelleno
As I stated before, I contacted the GS Park & Pier and made sure there would be no misunderstanding after seeing the pier's rules.
Anybody who CCs and is prudent would do the same after seeing the rules posted, that or they would be foolhardy and negligent to their responsibility as a CCW holder.
I even went so far as to introduce myself to the young officer who rides the golf cart on the pier, I forget his name, and discuss the issue with him personally, so he knows me and knows I CC.
This is called being polite and respectful, and heading off potential problems before they start.
Allow me to clarify the rules, our State Law pertaining to State Parks.
Which the Gulf State Park & Pier (park/pier are one, same rules) are a part of, and hence they recognize and abide by these laws/regs.
Go spank yourself :spank: Cause it is RIGHT HERE.
Thanks, but I don't plan on jumping in the water.
And even if I did a good cleaning and lube at home would cure it of any corrosion.
I Open Carry at Ft. Morgan when I fish, it gets exposed to a lot more salt air/spray there, than it would on the pier.
Fort personnel didn't seem to care, Ranger on quad didn't seem to care either and I don't think Haywire even noticed I was carrying... So much for drawn guns and bloody endings.
iI have never felt the need to carry on the pier, even at night. To each his own, but why carry a gun on the pier? We are among way more friends than foes and I have never felt actually threatened by an occasional asshole; after all there is at least one in every crowd.
If we could land big ass sharks, maybe. :poke1:
With all the control crap going on right now, I would suspect that no matter where you go, anyone who spots a gun and doesn’t know the carrier will call the police.
Just to clarify; the term “you” is being used generically and not meant to point out any individual(s).
I sure will be glad when spring gets here and our discussions can get back to what’s really important; :fishing: :fishing: :fishing:

after my experience this past summer, i feel no need to carry ON the pier. it's the to and from that concern me and i'm not leaving it in the truck to be stolen.
You know if I didn't know a lot of the people out there, and know that its a great group of people, could definitely see the need and want to carry a ccw. For the most part though, its not needed there, the exception to me is when there is very few around, and the pier house closed or has minimal staff. Weird stuff has happened overnights, and you never know who has wondered over. Pepper spray and a cell phone would probably take care of 99% of people if threatened, but it makes sense to be safe than sorry. Its always good to not be alone, but if you happen to be, a ccw makes sense. If you think about it though, the only place to go if you get cornered out there is in the drink, and that's still a pretty good drop and a long swim possibly in dangerous waves and currents. During the day, there's pretty much always a few souls out there, and people working.
During peak season though, when people are crowded, and some irritated and angers are flaring; it would be nice if someone was around 24/7 to keep the peace. Chuck helped with that a lot the first couple of years, definitely miss him in that respect.
Just saw a great number sticker a little while ago:
"I carry a gun becasue a cop is too heavy."
I need to find one of these.
OH ! Yeah !!! I like that ! Going to be searching for that one .
let me see if I can bring thus back on track, yes I carry. A 1956 colt .38 special old and reliable.
Also, ever had a vehicle break in? I have twice at the pier, and even had a lock box in my jeep, guess what? It got ripped out..
Oh, and g19
In Memphis for two weeks - betchur bottom dollar my .40 is with me 24/7
