Winner, Winner, Seafood Dinner!
Fooled ya, bet you figured to see some nice fish.
2014 NAGA Grappling Tournament in Mobile, AL
This was Nathaniel's first competition since he started Jui-Jitsu.
Due to his age/weight, he was placed against opponents who were all a head or more taller & up to 12# heavier.
Nathaniel volunteered to compete in both Intermediate & Experienced and thus competed against larger & more experienced opponents.
To celebrate Nathaniel chose an early dinner at our local 'Boiling Pot' seafood restaurant.
Jumbo shrimp, Crab claws, Soft Shell crabs, Shrimp Jambalaya & lots of sides.
Oh man, a bit of Heaven on Earth.
Winner by technicality Experienced No Gi
Silver Experienced Gi
Silver Intermediate Gi
Bronze Intermediate No Gi

Need to get that boy on a wrestling mat and see if he can win a state championship. We have one forum member who will be going for a state championship in high school wrestling this winter.

What a thrill---for the whole family. Congratulations. It's just a shame he's still so darned shy.

You might want to check into the young fellow not being able to Wrestle in High School if he is home schooled. I think in MN. they can be home schooled and still participate in extra curricular activities. I would not swear to it, but I believe you can.
The kid may have a "gift" that needs to be addressed. Don't let him waste it.

Four JJ classes a week, the camaraderie of friends/teammates, competition, awards/recognition... Does it really look like he is wasting anything?
Martial arts teach so much more than regular school wrestling, but hey, if he wants to learn Greco/Roman wrestling he will.
Just like he is learning piano & reading, writing & arithmetic.Ragnar Benson:

He sounds to me like he is a GREAT kid, one that you can be VERY proud of. I wish him all the luck and success in the world. You may have misunderstood me, I was NOT putting down martial arts, I was only trying to make sure that he has all of the positive opportunities available to him. Congratulate him for me for a job well done!
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
