What should we see in Mobile?
We plan to spend a late morning/afternoon in Mobile on our way down. Do you guys have any recommendations as to what we should stop and see or visit while there. We have seen several battleships and they are all pretty much the same, any other ideas? Is the Historical District interesting?

I grew up in Mobile and lived there until 2001. I learned at an early age that the greatest thing about Mobile is that it takes less than an hour to get to Gulf Shores!

Don't write off Battleship Alabama Park (it has a cool air museum and a submarine).
Then eat lunch @ Wintzell's (downtown ;-)

I was offered the opportunity to leave and I took it!
I agree there is more to Battleship Park than just the ship.
You might enjoy driving to Dauphin Island and taking the ferry from Fort Gaines to Fort Morgan and on the GS/OB.

I second Pier#r's suggestion about lunch at Wintzell's!

I think there's a strip joint across the street, too, but they wouldn't let me in, so it must be a high class place.

If you take the ferry, there is a fort on D. Island and another on the other side of the bay, Fort Gaines and Fort Morgan. Or you could stop and pitch for some whiting or reds over there on DI before popping over.

Thanks for the help guys, we're not sure what we are going to do. We will talk about it on the way down but we will definitely have lunch/dinner at Wintzell's

is it bad that i am considering moving to mobile after i finish taking care of my current neck issues just so i am one step closer to gulf shores and getting out of mississippi?
of course depending on how that whole incident works itself out the family and i may look for a place all the way on those white sands instead of just taking a step.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
