    Well, I did it.

I sold my home in Orange Beach. Haywire is no longer a citizen of Baldwin county. The reason I moved there in 1972 is because I loved the fishing and it was great for a while and I ran my charter boat for 15 years until I realized that I was no longer a fisherman, I was a boat driver.

The Gulf Shores Pier became my obsession in 2012, and, along with a large group of fine friends, dedicated as much time as I could to fishing there. Then came Hurricane Sally, right after the pier had already been closed for months for renovations.

Devastation struck my life last May when my wife died. There was nothing left for me in Orange Beach. I have turned my hunting camp in Grove Hill into my permanent home, living out in the woods with the hoot owls.

If the pier is ever completed while I am still able to fish (young enough), I'll be making some visits. I've been missing my pier family for too long and hope to make some re-connections. I'd really like to catch a few more kings and put some Spanish and sheepshead in the freezer. It may be a futile hope, but I'm going to hang on to it. Y'all keep posting and keep me advised on what's happening.

    Tight lines.

Be Well, George. I'm glad I got to meet you and I hope I get to see you on a visit. You will be missed.
People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.

If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

That’s Baldwin county’s loss. But Grove Hill isn’t that far away! God’s blessings to you!
    God bless!

    Mr Haywire...

You helped me a lot over the years. Saw your flag my first visit and asked questions. If it wasn't for you and then the others, I don't know if I would've kept going.

I hope you find your peace.

I will miss you and hope to see you soon.

It was always a good time interacting with you on the pier. My grandkids enjoyed your pocket mouse and still ask about the guy with the mouse! Take care and best wishes George. jjm

Gee whiz Mr. Wire, you must be the ONLY person that has moved OUT of Baldwin County in the past 10 years! LOL
Your move seems very logical George, and I certainly hope not too far or too long away from sharing the rail with you again!
God bless and keep you safe in da woods!

The deer, the turkey, and the hogs vote for you to come back to the pier because they fear you, apex predator.

George,I can understand your moving and the reasons behind them. I wish you the best and hope you do come back to fish. I've not fished G.S. pier since it went down along with the parking issues. If youre there then it sure would make it easier to come over that way.Allen
