Prayers for family and friends
No clue where and when it'll be they're really private people already but Jerry was a great guy and a hell of a fish killer. He had a Brain Aneurysm sadly
Prayers to the family. Rest in peace Jerry. Fly high with the angels.
Hate to hear that, Jery loved those Specs. I always had a pleasure fishing with him. Prayers to his family.
Those the guys that pull the all nighters chasing flounder in the skinny water?
Yes deep dive that's him
I talked to Jimmy (Jere's brother) today and he wants to have a memorial ash spreading from the pier in the near future once all the details are finalized.
I offered sincere condolences (and shock) on behalf of all the GSPFF family and promised to contact him and relay the day and time for the memorial service.
If you see Jimmy fishing please take time to talk to him about his brother. After talking with him this morning it was obvious as painful as this time is, it was comforting to him to know that others cared for his brother too and enjoyed his company on the pier.
I hope they have specks in heaven Jere!
Jery told me he had some great pics of Specks they have been catching and he was going to post them, maybe Jimmy will want to share them with us at the memorial.
Sure am gonna miss Jery, really fun to fish with him. Rest in peace my friend.
please post a picture if you could, I am not from there but wonder if I had seen or even talked with him when I have been on the pier ....so sorry for all your loss, of a fine friend
I would like to make a wreath in his honor to hang at the pier for a week or so ( however long it will last) do you think there would be any issues with that? I am planning on going down in the morning.
Just be sure to ASK Teresa or Ranger Randy so they will know what it is about and there shouldn't be a problem.
Jimmy mentioned to me the speck pics Jere had been 'saving up' to post. I gave him a business card with the website address and he said he'd like to post the pics for Jere.
Some great memories there! Those two brothers could fill a box with trout like few can!!
I think he was a friend I hadn't met yet. My condolences to the family.
Today I called jerys phone to make sure we were going to fish our flounder holes for the rodeo and that's when jimmy told me what had happened.... It really did seem to help jimmy just to have someone to talk to about his brother so if u do see him make sure u talk to him he really needs it!!!
I lost a bunch of photos in a crash a while back, but have been searching my backups and finally found a photo of our friend Jery. This was taken April 4, 2011

till I met them. The day I brought my grandsons to the pier I introduced them to the brothers and they were quick to lend a hand when needed including giving my oldest a piece of a crowded rail and a little free advice. Guys I'll continue to say it, the best damned fishermen in the world fish on our little piece of heaven on earth.
Pax to the family and Spiritu Sacntus to Jerry
Omg! I am so sorry to hear this bad news! He always helped me with any fishing problems! He taught me how to catch flounder! He also gave me his gold hook off his hat when I caught my state record pompano, and told me that I earned the right to wear the gold hook! I will miss his kindness and his help fishing for flounder. I didn't know his family, but my prayers go out to them!
Sending prayers from our family to his.
Wow, really sorry to here that. Jerry was a nice guy, spent many a hours chasing specs and flounder in the evening with him. That's a shocker, my condolences to his family. He was quite the character, and I'm sure he'll be missed.
Jimmy said they have not gotten any news from the funeral home yet but he will pass it on when he does.
He also said he was very thankful for the support and concern from everyone.
Please keep them in your prayers as they work through this sudden loss...
Oh man ...just saw this...while I would not say I knew him, we spoke many times when I was down there. Very sorry to hear. Jesus hung out with a lot of fishermen when he walked the earth. Pretty sure he has a place for us in heaven so that we can wet a line for eternity. Rest in peace and save us a spot on the rail!!!!
Jimmy called to say they will have a short memorial service for Jery on the pier @4pm this coming Sat.
Aug 3
Thank you Jimmy and David.
I will be there in spirit.
What a perfect place to memorialize this good man.
Jimmy called me at lunch to tell me about jery's memorial Saturday at 4:00. Unfortunately I'm going out of town today so I hope for a really good turn out to help jimmy and the family's mourning process....
