I voted for Gulf Shores because I truly do enjoy the times I have been there. However, it's my opinion that the powers to be in that area need to stop restrictioning fishing access in areas that local and visitors have been using for decades. Fisherman like myself spend a considerable amount of money when we come there, but if our access to to the water becomes more and more restrictive we will find more productive places to spend our time and money.
Dance naked my friends, life is short.

My vote is in I've been all over the US the Carribean Mexico and Central America and it doesn't get much better than Gulf Shores Some of these places may have one thing or so individually better than Gulf Shores like scenery, cost of living in Latin America, etc but nothing puts them all together like Gulf Shores Try to go somewhere most anytime during the day or up to midnight in any of your Florida cities and see how long it takes you That alone rules out Fla for me Latin America was great I had a maid a cook and a gardener plus a house with a pool for less than $600-$700 per month but didn't like Spanish all the time plus did miss some of the conviences of the US Plus you have the Gulf State Pier and the people that fish it Nothing in Pier fishing can come close to that Plus I have a poker room 45 minutes away for my second love other than fishing and the view of a Cruise ship out my balcony door every day It doesn't get much better than that

I am guessing you are referring to the fence at Alabama Point. Orange Beach Gubment wants it repaired and reopened by last week! I live in Gulf Shores, but have been to an OB City Council Meeting where people loudly complained about the fence and sea wall. According to Mayor Tony, the problem is the Alabama State Gubment says there is no money for this project.

Traffic is bad enough as it is and mega structures like Phoenix West and West II and Turquoise place are adding more rooms all the time.

My late in-laws started coming down to Gulf Shores before there was 4-lane highway running north. I was only there a bit back in that era, but it was heaven. And yet, time marches on. I was born in a house on a totally undeveloped and beautiful road, but the house had outdoor plumbing. The region is still beautiful behind the strip malls and apartments, but I would not go back to out-door plumbing to be rid of them. Progress has a price.
Meanwhile, I have been to a half-dozen on the list, and I like certain features of each, but Gulf Shores has the package.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
