Things I'm Thankful For -
I'm thankful for familiar friendly faces when I get to the pier.
And thankful for that first strike at daylight that lets me know that this could be a great day.
I'm thankful for J & M having just what I need and having it easy to find.
I'm thankful for the pier having a cleaning station!
I'm thankful for polite fishermen who realize that pier fishing isn't a competitive sport, but a cooperative event.
I'm thankful for the chance to hand my rod to a kid and say, "here - you bring it in!"
I'm thankful to fishermen who respect the resource by either throwing the fish back or putting it immediately in the ice chest.
I'm thankful for this site, which allows us to share information and even brag about our catch a bit!
I'm thankful for the many helpful and knowledgeable fishermen who contribute by posting accounts and pictures.
I'm thankful for the good neighbor who offers to net or gaff my fish for me!
Most of all, I'm thankful for good friends and enjoyable conversations with outstanding, unique individuals. It's something I truly value!
Feel free to contribute, on this Thanksgiving Day, the things that you're thankful for!

I am thankful that in 4 more years I will have a lot more time to spend on the pier. All 6 of my grandkids. A great wife. And that I still have both my parents. Thank you Lord for my life.

The Program I've been in for the last 28 years (and for which I am VERY grateful) advises that I make regular gratitude lists and I am always amazed at what I have to be grateful for. I am prone to let life's everyday irritations get all my attention and I forget the really important good stuff like, I can see, I can hear, I have legs and arms---when you do it that way, it's good. Not saying that some really bad stuff doesn't come along, but gratitude is important, just like the prayer, "God, thank you for the obstacles that you will place in my path today so that I may be strengthened by overcoming them."
Anyhow, the bird is burning in the oven and my darling wife (more gratitude) is preparing the all-important sides. I guess I am grateful for the weight I'm going to gain, especially from the Key Lime pie for dessert.
Thank you, Tom, for your most eloquent and thoughtful post.

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!
Indeed, count your blessings, big and small, one and all.
I've even given thanks for some bad things in my life when they led me to much better ways/times.
Thank you Lord for my Life, Wife and Family, for 21+ years of Sobriety and for all the people I call Friends.Ragnar Benson:
Never, under any circumstances, ever become a refugee.
Die if you must, but die on your home turf with your face to the wind, not in some stinking hellhole 2,000 kilometers away, among people you neither know nor care about.
