Thanks Baby...
Fall of 2011 my wife introduced me to salt water and the Pier, and this forum. I fished fresh for years, and bucked all the way to the beach. And I was HOOKED. We used our freshwater tackle early, then she got me a heavier rig at J&M last summer. And we had a blast, driving down from north Alabama as often as we could. Stayed at hotels and the park, but she was up at 4 every morning, ready to go. Even when we weren't going out until later. Her favorite picture was her and a nice red she caught pre-dawn one morning with her 10 pound bass rig and the second Gotcha plug we ever bought. I kept the bent, twisted Gotcha, and look at the picture nearly every day.
We moved a lot, as we both worked for the US Government, but fell in love with Alabama. She came up with our handle here on the forum... the two M's our first initials, and Alabama. M and M Alabama.
I lost her to a long illness last summer, at 43. And have struggled since. I come down here a lot, but have been sort of lost without my fishing buddy. But I decided to sell all, and move here myself... and I have. As of July 1 I am a local, grabbing a house in Robertsdale, Al. The two car garage will have the truck on one side, and fishing gear and motorcycles on the other. The house itself is going to feel empty for a long time, but it's a start.
So many folks give thanks every day for this and that on the forum. I love the area down here, and am thankful for being introduced to it by M. I am very reserved and stay to myself a lot, so I haven't really met any of the characters on the forum. But I will... just through bumping elbows and tangling lines.
But I wouldn't have even known about this place if it weren't for my wife. So I just wanted to say... Thanks Baby.

Wow. What a story. They don't call it the pier family for no reason. Check out Mobile Bay HD. They have an active H.O.G. chapter from what I understand.
Screw it. Let's ride.

I feel it to be a blessing that for some folks our greatest and most cherished memories are those of a loved one and fishing. I too have some of my best memories fishing with my paw paw. He is still with us but unable to fish now. I make it a point though to tell him about every fish I catch, he used to do the same with me.
Says a lot too about this forum and members on it that we can share our deepest thoughts with them...brotherhood of the pier!

Never, under any circumstances, ever become a refugee.
Die if you must, but die on your home turf with your face to the wind, not in some stinking hellhole 2,000 kilometers away, among people you neither know nor care about.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
