The Andy Griffith Show Theme Lyrics
The Fishin' Hole by Everett Sloane, Earle Hagen and Herbert Spencer - The Andy Griffith Show Lyrics
Well, now, take down your fishin' pole and meet me at The Fishin' Hole,
We may not get a bite all day, but don't you rush away.
What a great place to rest your bones and mighty fine for skippin' stones,
You'll feel fresh as a lemonade, a-settin' in the shade.
Whether it's hot, whether it's cool, oh what a spot for whistlin' like a fool.
What a fine day to take a stroll and wander by The Fishin' Hole,
I can't think of a better way to pass the time o' day.
We'll have no need to call the roll when we get to The Fishin' Hole,
There'll be you, me, and Old Dog Trey, to doodle time away.
If we don't hook a perch or bass, we'll cool our toes in dewy grass,
Or else pull up a weed to chaw, and maybe set and jaw.
Hangin' around, takin' our ease, watchin' that hound a-scratchin' at his fleas.
Come on, take down your fishin' pole and meet me at The Fishin' Hole,
I can't think of a better way to pass the time o' day.

Never, under any circumstances, ever become a refugee.
Die if you must, but die on your home turf with your face to the wind, not in some stinking hellhole 2,000 kilometers away, among people you neither know nor care about.

Re: Thanks Andy!
Thanks for the lyrics #r. Ill try to work it out on the banjo and maybe something will come of it. Like many, I remember the melody, but never knew there were lyrics to go along. Always just thought it was an instrumental.
The thing I remember most about the show was it alwys had a wholesome message for the family...unlike most programming of today.
God Bless the creators and actors for all they did to entertain us all. Life was simpler then, it seems.
Thanks again, Andy :fishing:Brother

Re: Thanks Andy!
Andy will be missed. Great example of what clean television should have always been.
Anyone remember his attempt at the "new" andy griffith show with Lee Meriwether?
I found it interesting that he required his body buried within 5 hrs of his death while suffering from an undisclosed illness.
Jim Nabors is still hanging in there at 82.
I had the great honor of meeting him while living in his hometown, Sylacauga, AL, around 15 years ago. A Ryan's Steakhouse was built dedicated to Jim right in front of Wal-Mart on Hwy 280 (Jim Nabors Parkway), and he made an appearance on grand opening day.
As most, i grew up watching the show and always enjoyed the old fashioned cast. It is very sad to see them go.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
