Sturgis
Just made reservations - riding up for bike week Aug 3-10. 2800 miles round trip plus probably 500 miles side trips up there. Woopwoop!
Screw it. Let's ride.

We were there a couple of years ago just before the rally.....in our Mini Van so didn't quite have the complete experience. If you get a chance check out Deadwood, cool little town not far from Sturgis.

Lots of pics for sure. Have a friend staying in deadwood. I'm staying on the other side of town out past the three hell raiser campgrounds
Screw it. Let's ride.

Just got finished laying out my route. 1462 miles of state and local highways with a little interstate thrown in. Basically here to north of Dallas to Amarillo and then north to Sturgis. Gonna take it slow and see the sights -- about 400 miles a day. Pumped!!
Screw it. Let's ride.

Dive, will this be your first time in South Dakota? Black Hills are great, maybe take the Needles Highway if you can. The Badlands are more to the east of Sturgis but you will not regret checking them out. Been to South Dakota many times and never get tired of the area!

Yea. Needles highway is a definite day trip. May alter my route a bit to come in through the bad lands. Been suggested more than once. What's the fuel situation like out there? I get about 200 miles from a tank and plan on keeping at least a quart if not half gallon in a bottle stashed away.
hey, Fin...come with me. From what I understand, there won't be any of those pesky bikinis to get in the way of your lens.
BTW - I'll def send you a pic!!Screw it. Let's ride.

Bro I would love to join you, but my old ass would not survive that long of a ride anymore and I sold my trailer, so I will have to pass, Have fun and stay alert on those local roads.
Needles HWY is awesome, but don't get too frisky, some of the curves are tricky. Deadwood is a must and check out Boot Hill. The cemetery looks down at the town and Wild Bill Hickock and Calaminty Jane are buried there.
Keystone is another little town tht is kinda neat and not far from Mount Rushmore.
I look forward to a boatload of pix!

The tale as to whether my old ass will survive it has yet to be told. The very fact that I don't know if I can do it is what ultimately made me decide to do it (ride instead of trailer, that is)....Because it's there, in the words of JFK as to why Rice plays Texas or why we went to the moon
Screw it. Let's ride.

There's lots of little towns and truck stops that you can fuel up at. You'll be fine. Have fun, I'd love to get on my bike and join you, just don't think I'd be able to peddle that far...
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
