Anyone have any input on smokers? Looking at a Weber Smokey Mountain as a possible Fathers Day gift.
My neighbor has a Brinkman electric. He loves it, drives me nuts he uses it so much.
I have a Brinkman charcoal one, I really like it, but electric is a heck of lot easier and you still get the smoked flavor. And electric keep a steady temperature, even in winter. All you do is load the woodchip pan, plug it in, turn it on & load it up. Come back when the stuff is done.
If I buy another smoker, it will be electric.
I have the electric one from Sams Club. I love it. I smoke something atleast 2 times a week. Man it even has a remote so you can check the temp and adjust everything from inside the house.
Really? An electric smoker? I guess I never gave them much thought. I'll have to look into them.
I have had several charcoal smokers and as great as they are I started using a electric smoker about 2 years ago and will not go back. Holds the temp about 200 degrees for as long as you want it to. I will not be going back to Charcoal.
I've got to give the Brinkmann electric smoker a recommendation.
There are some differences between electric ones: The Brinkman my neighbor has, has only one temp: on. Which is 250 degrees.
Others have a variable thermostat you set. Academy or BP had one on sale this week that has a variable setting, about $250 if I remember correctly.
Electric is the way to go. Get one that has a door that opens in the front like a refrigerator. I use a barrel type that loads from the top and it's a little unhandy. Spend the extra money, you wouldn't be sorry.
Looks like I'm leaning towards electrics! Thanks again!
I have a Masterbuilt and I really like it. Digital readout thermostat heat control, timer, and temperature probe. You don't even have to open it up to add wood chips. Set it and forget it!
