Not a problem for me. I rarely wade more than knee deep when surf fishing. People who wade chest deep, chunking hunks of bloody cut bait are just asking for trouble. To quote a very old retired ships captain that used to sit everyday in the early morning on Fort Lauderdale Beach many years ago told me. "Boy I have seen things in that water that can swallow you in one gulp" He told that to a friend and I who would take an old flat bottom boat and free dive for Florida Lobster off that beach. Not wanting to end up as fish poop,
I have never forgot that advice.
Despite the number of sharks, it's rarely the fishermen that get mistaken for food. It's typically swimmers with all their splashing and horizontal orientation to the water.
Still, I dislike getting in water depth where I can't see my feet.
Are these blacktips I assume?
I need to schedule my trips around this migration next year for some good sharking action.
WOW WKRG, that is an amazing discovery; there are sharks in the Gulf!
You have a better chance of being pooped on by a bird than being attacked by a shark! How is this news?
Fish live in the water, birds fly in the air, and wild animals live in the woods; you are their guest when you enter their homes.
Keep an eye out for flying sharks though; because that would actually be NEWS!
The most amazing thing is that the pier fishermen aren't being blamed for for the concentration.
